Sanathana Natyalaya

Welcome to Sanathana Natyalaya

Sanathana Natyalaya ®, Mangalore centre for classical dance is creating awareness of this art since 1984. Since 30 decades the institution has been teaching Bharathanatyam to hundreds of students and also shaping their life by inculcating Indian culture among them.

It was in 1984, a novel foundation for this institution was laid by late N.K. Sundar Acharya a prominent musician. With great passion for this art, a vision in mind, and strong commitment his daughter vidushi sharadamari Shekar (Dance guru, Sanathana Natyalaya) is leading this institution with the moral support of her husband Sri Chandrashekar K Shetty (Director, Sanathana Natyalaya) As the present generation started taking keen interest in this art forms the institute started expanding its branches across rural areas of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi like Karkala, Moodbidri, Yadapadvu, Kaikamba and Niddodi. Thus enabling rural children also to learn this art.

Testimonials

Shalmalee-GhateSanathana Natyalaya is much more than just a dance school for many. It is a home, a community, a group of people that want to support each other unconditionally to bring out the best in you. As an institution, it has not only worked to promote classical dance but also strived to make dance a part of every day life of many Mangaloreans.

Classical dance is an integral part of Indian culture, and Sanathana Natyalaya has succeeded in making it accessible to people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. From choreographing dances to songs in local languages to showcasing stories that most people can relate to, it has created an irreplaceable mark in the field of traditional art forms and I am confident that the institution will only continue to impact the lives of many more in the days to come. I am immensely proud to be a part of this community and am forever grateful for the love and affection received from each member of this institution.
